Family nutrition

A calorie tracker for the whole family

Byte Balance lets a whole household track nutrition together. Each person joins with an invite code and gets a profile with their own calorie and macro goals, a shared meal is logged once and split by portion, and a household dashboard shows everyone’s day. The Family plan covers up to 6 people.

Why a family tracker is different

Almost every calorie counter assumes you eat alone. In most homes, one person cooks, several people eat the same dinner, and everyone has different needs — one person trying to lose weight, another training for strength, a grandparent who needs more protein.

Logging that dinner separately on four phones is exactly the kind of chore that makes people give up tracking. Byte Balance treats the household as the unit: set everyone up once, log the meal once, and each person’s numbers are right.

How it works

  1. 1. Create your household

Create a household and send an invite code. Each person joins from Byte Balance on their own iPhone.

  2. 2. Set individual goals

Each profile gets its own calorie, protein, carb and fat targets from that person’s details and goal.

  3. 3. Log a shared meal once

Photograph or search the dish, then choose who ate it. It is split in proportion to each person’s calorie budget.

  4. 4. See everyone’s day

The household dashboard shows today’s total, the average, water, and how close each member is to their goal.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best calorie tracking app for a family?

Look for an app that gives each person their own profile and goals inside one household, lets you log a shared meal once, and prices the household as one plan. Byte Balance does all three: family profiles, shared meals split by portion, and a Family plan for up to 6 people at $79.99/year (launch pricing). Most popular calorie counters, such as MyFitnessPal, are priced and designed per person.

How many people can be on a Byte Balance Family plan?

Up to 6 people, including you.

How does splitting a shared meal work?

Log the dish once and choose who ate it. Byte Balance divides the meal in proportion to each person’s daily calorie budget, so someone with a 2,400 kcal target is assigned a bigger share than someone with 1,800 kcal. Each person’s log gets their share of the calories and macros.

How do family members join?

You create a household and send each person an invite code. They sign in to Byte Balance on their own iPhone, enter the code, and join your household with their own profile and goals. One Family plan covers everyone.
